The two-fold mission of improving the lives of local people, and protecting our resources can only be achieved through a partnership with our guests from abroad. For these reasons, Machapu Adventures offers “voluntourism” packages that combine the same luxurious comfort, access to pristine waves and opportunities to experience the wonders of Peru, with the added value of lending a hand to the communities and environments visited by our guests. For Peru, this is a unique opportunity to benefit from the increasing numbers of travelers in a positive and responsible manner. Machapu Adventures is currently engaged in the following voluntourism projects:

* Chicama Cultural Preservation: In conujnction with the Chicama Cultural Center, we sponsor free music and theater workshops for the local kids, to ensure that the folk traditions are handed down to future generations.

* Chicama Special Education School: A very special school that is completely staffed by volunteers and serves the most needy kids of Chicama

* School Supplies Program: Fostering the educational advancement of the underprivileged children of Chicama, we provide the necessary tools for the kids to obtain the best possible education.

* Chicama Environmental Preservation Initiative: In conjunction with the Chicama Mayor's Office, we are working towards having Chicama declared a national park, to ensure that the natural wonder of this amazing wave is preserved for future generations and protected from predatory urban development.

* Chicama Children's Surf Team: The under-privileged groms of Chicama deserve a chance to show the world their talent, as we expect a future World Champion by just helping them get wetsuits, boards and a little expert coaching, plus the chance to travel to regional competitions. Surf with the locals!

* Professional Assistance Initiative: If you would like to assist the people of Chicama through your own particular expertise, we would love to hear from you. We need doctors, dentists, carpenters, plumbers, civl engineers, environmentalists, surfers, anyone willing to spend some time helping others through their individual set of skills or professional experience.
